Road to Zero
The more zero-emission kilometres on Qatar's roads, the better for the cities we all share.

Our ambition
We want more of every trip in Qatar to run clean
Qatar's public charging network for electric vehicles is still developing, and driver confidence depends on that infrastructure being genuinely convenient, not just technically available. Road to Zero is how we are thinking about closing that gap as it grows, starting with what is already possible inside the app today.
Pillar 1
Make EVs easier to access
Vehicle cost is consistently the first barrier drivers raise when asked about switching to electric. We are exploring financing and leasing options with local partners so an EV becomes a realistic upgrade, not just an aspiration.
- Sharing clear, honest information about EV running costs as Qatar's market for them grows
- Exploring financing partners so upfront cost is less of a barrier for driver partners

Pillar 2
Reduce charging barriers
Locating a charger and knowing how long it will take are the two questions every EV driver asks before a shift. As Qatar's charging network expands, QGlide intends to make that information part of the driver experience, not something drivers have to piece together themselves.
- Tracking public charging rollout across Doha and beyond as it happens
- Working toward in-app visibility of charging options for driver partners

Pillar 3
Grow rider demand for cleaner trips
Shared Rides already means fewer vehicles covering the same journeys. As electric options become available, we want riders to be able to choose them deliberately, not stumble into them by chance.
- Continuing to grow Shared Rides as the most immediate way to cut emissions per trip today
- Planning clear in-app labelling for electric and low-emission trips as they become available

Why this matters, beyond the environment
Lower running costs
Electricity is generally cheaper than fuel, and EVs need less routine maintenance, both of which matter directly to a driver's take-home earnings.
Quieter, smoother rides
Riders consistently describe electric vehicles as calmer and more comfortable than the conventional cars they replace.
Less congestion-related pollution
Every trip shared instead of duplicated is one fewer vehicle contributing to traffic and air quality pressure in Qatar's cities.
Why shared mobility matters
A single ride-hailing vehicle can replace many private car trips
A vehicle used for ride-hailing typically covers far more distance in a day than a privately owned car sitting in a driveway or a parking garage most of the time. That means every improvement to how those vehicles run, shared instead of solo, electric instead of combustion, has an outsized effect on a city's overall emissions compared to the same change applied to a single private car.
What we are exploring right now
- Conversations with local charging infrastructure providers as Qatar's EV network expands
- Financing and leasing options that could lower the upfront cost of an EV for driver partners
- Continued investment in Shared Rides as the most immediate, available way to cut emissions per trip today
